What's the "Smart Goups" Feature in EndNote X2?

EndNote X2 adds a new feature called "Smart Groups" that should turn out to be very useful. "Smart Groups" are user-defined groups of references that update automatically as references are added to a library. Thus, if you create a Smart Group for the author name "bishop," every time you add a record to EndNote that contains this name it will also automatically get added to the Smart Group.

For detailed information on creating and using Smart Groups see the Smart Groups section in the online manual under the EndNote Help menu.

  1. Is the library using EndNote X2 for teaching classes yet? Thanks for this useful blog. This information is helpful in preparing to teach classes.- Terri@SFGH Library

  2. The library's main teaching classroom, LC222, will not be available for a few months because of restructuring of the 2nd floor. So we have to wait a while before we can upgrate from X to X2. We will continue to provide EndNote training in another temporary location. There is a possibility that we can get X2 installed in another classroom - but no definite dates yet.

    I'll keep people informed.
