"Direct Export" is an option available in some databases that sends your references directly into EndNote, RefWorks or other similar applications such as ProCite and Reference Manager. Some, but not all, vendors support this.
The following popular databases offer Direct Export:
CINAHL EndNote & RefWorks
PsycINFO RefWorks
WorldCat EndNote & RefWorks
Web of Science EndNote
BIOSIS Previews EndNote
ERIC RefWorks
Please note that some databases provide Direct Export to both EndNote & RefWorks, while others provide it for only one.
When you choose the export feature, the database will locate your copy of EndNote (or RefWorks account) then ask you to open it and select a library/folder into which to put your references. (You may also have to select the proper EndNote import filter.) Records are then automatically imported into your library/folder.
